I merely took the energy
it takes to pout and wrote some blues.

Cinderella Sings the Blues

Cinderella Sings the Blues is the "Carrie Bradshaw meets Bonnie Raitt" debut EP from Brisbane blues songstress Lana Martino-Smith.  Drawing inspiration from performers such as Bob Dylan, Rufus Wainwright and Billie Holiday, Lana recasts the blues for the Sex and the City set by reminding us that for every man who done us wrong, there's another waiting with a glass slipper.

"The blues traditionally draws on heartache and pain, and Lord knows I can certainly relate to that, but I'm naturally an optimistic person and I wanted to reflect that in my music," Lana explains.

Cinderella is punctuated by the moaning guitar work of blues guru Dave McGuire and driven by an hypnotic rhythm section comprised of some of Australia's best jazz/blues specialists.  Add to the mix Lana's sometimes sweet, sometimes guttural vocal performance and the result is blues with both grit and sparkle.  Put Cinderella Sings the Blues on repeat and you'll ensure the clock never strikes midnight and the ball lasts forever.
